Me, catering a wedding in 2010
Ancora Imparo is latin for "Still, I am learning."  It is attributed to Michelangelo Buonarroti as something he said near the end of his life.  Years ago, someone gifted me a necklace with this inscription, and I loved it.  I would like that humility to mark my life.

I'm Marianne. I was officially born in the 80's (1980, to be exact).  I am married to a man 12 years my senior, officially born in the 60's (1968, to be exact), and we have four children, Søren (2005), Elliot (2007), Penelope (2009), and Lucy (2011).

My husband,
who is never this serious
but always this cute
I graduated from a Christian Great Books program at Gutenberg College.  I like to read, though, I really rarely get to browse beyond my Google Reader.  I am homeschooling, though I want to cater each education to each child, which may mean public or private school somewhere in our future.

Like any person, I am much more than my title and a short bio.  Things you might not know about me from first glance:  I once dated my younger half-brother's older half-brother, I've been to Africa, worked for an evangelist, started a house church, abandoned evangelicalism but kept my faith, agreed to marry a man after 6 weeks of knowing him, and created a large black-market network to help people access raw milk.  My father (who isn't my biological father) has become a woman.  Life is funny and God writes the most interesting of stories.

Elliot, 4, and Søren, 6
I've lived in the Seattle, WA area, the Portland, OR area, and the Eugene, OR area, which makes me very officially a North-westerner, the kind that doesn't know that the NW includes dessert areas.   I cloth diaper when I can, eat organic, and try to steward the planet well.  Like any mother, I am trying to balance a lot of priorities, dreams, and goals and I cannot boast that I am doing any of it right.

I think a lot, and feel a lot, and am compelled to verbally (or typographically?) process those various things.  Despite being passionately opinionated, I am patient and compassionate and truly do not think I have it all figured out.  I really like dialog.  Sometimes I encourage and challenge you, sometimes you encourage and challenge me.  That's why I blog.
