Kreativ Blogger Award

Abby at New Urban Habitat kindly sent me the Kreativ Blogger Award. Thank you, Abby!

Another blogger has done some digging into the history of the award here.  I find his version to be delightful, but I do not have the time a the moment, so I will pass on what Abby has sent (simpler!).  When you get the award, you’re supposed to reveal seven things about yourself, then pass it on to seven other bloggers.

So here are seven things you might not know about me (and if you enjoyed this list, make sure you go check out this old one that gives insight into my screen name amongst other things), though this is tough as most of you have been reading (or have known me) for years and years now:
  1. Words that are intentionally spelled wrong irritate me (like "Kreativ"), but never so much as when they are done while marketing to children with words like "skool".
  2. I haven't had a significantly new hair style since 1993 - but that should be changing THIS WEEK at the hands of this dear friend.
  3. When I was 10 years old I was convinced that I wanted three daughters, and that I was going to name them Faith, Hope, and Charity and refer to them as my three graces.  Sick isn't it?  (no offense to the individual names....just the whole package).   One of Penelope's middle names is, however, Grace.
  4. My husband proposed to me after 6 short weeks of dating, and I said yes (and have never regretted it)
  5. A couple nights ago I couldn't fall asleep for over an hour (it usually takes me all of 3 minutes) because I was consumed imagining how I would teach math to inner city students in the Bronx.  I have since slept just fine.
  6. I am completely addicted to the television show LOST (which I watch on abc.com the next day as we do not otherwise watch television)
  7. I am currently doing all of my cooking on one plug-in burner, an electric skillet, and a convection oven.  There is only 1 recipe in my normal repertoire that I cannot make as it requires the "broil" function of a normal oven. I like the challenge.
Now I am supposed to pass the award along to seven other creative bloggers.   I am not good at such things.  You can see my side bar for a list of the bloggers I think worth checking out, and since most of my readers know me in real life, you probably know most of them already!  However, I will draw your attention to two bloggers you might not have yet discovered that exude life creativity:
  1. Katie at Rabbits In Walls.
  2. Mrs. Boo Radley (not her real name, but she used to be my lovely neighbor) at Just Like Camping

Psalm 34 and Me

"I will bless the Lord at all times" (Psalm 34:1a) though I did not feel like doing it today.
"His praise shall continually be in my mouth" (1b) but it has not been.
"My soul will make it's boast in the Lord" (2a) because it has little other choice
"The humble will hear it and rejoice" (2b) you who have the same ears to hear, are rejoicing with me, and I thank you.

"I sought the Lord, and he answered me" (4a) this is true.
"And delivered me from all my fears" (4b) this is in process
"They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces will never be ashamed" (5) I do hope I am a part of that 'they'
"This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles" (6) and if the Lord could do so for David, then He certainly can for me, and if He is not, then there must be good reason.
"The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them" (7) aha, insight, make sure I am fearing the Lord

"O taste and see that the Lord is good" (8a) indeed I have.
"How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!" (8b) and I do feel blessed!
"O fear the Lord, you His saints" (9a) that means me.
"For to those who fear Him there is no want" (9b) that is true, when I am fearing him my seeming wants wither away.
"The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing" (10) and self, remember, "good" is defined in an eternal sense.
"Come, you children, listen to me" (11a) I say this a lot.
"I will teach you the fear of the Lord" (11b) and I wish that it is this I could offer my children.
"Who is the man who desires life" (12a) I do. I earnestly hope that for my children
"And loves length of days that he may see good?" (12b) yes, do go on....
"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit" (13) ahhhh, but this is not as easy as it sounds.
"Depart from evil and do good" (14a) I want to.
"Seek peace and pursue it." (14b) this is my aim.

"The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous" (15a) this is humbling
"And his ears are open to their cry" (15b) praise God.
"The face of the Lord is against evildoers" (16a) even when His actions, temporarily, are not.
"To cut off the memory of them from the earth" (16b) what a day that will be.
"The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles" (17) if they understand their troubles rightly...
"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted" (18a) so may my heart break often
"And saves those who are crushed in spirit" (18b) and may I be repeatedly crushed.

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous" (19a) so I should not be discouraged to have them
"But the Lord delivers him out of them all" (19b) which gives me hope.
"He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken" (v20) I think we are talking about the promised Messiah now.
"Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned" (21) may I never hate the righteous!
"The Lord redeems the soul of His servants" (22a) rather, may I continually be among them.
"And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned." (22b) so I find my hiding place in Him.

I have decide to join several of my friends and my mother in starting this decade by reading through the bible in one year.  I am starting tomorrow...so I suppose I will have to read a little into 2011 to make the whole thing (or play catch up sometime between here and there), but it seems a good goal.  I will not be giving you silly running commentary like above, so fear not, but do expect that threatened heretical theory for Genesis.  It will be coming soon.
