In the mean time, here are some snippets from recent conversations I remembered to write down:
-------------------------------------------
Søren is helping me unload all the food we have stashed in the stroller onto the cashier's conveyor belt, talking about the items as he places them, "...two types of mayonnaise that don't have any soy..." (but, off the record, still have oils I wish we could avoid). The cashier laughs, and I laugh, realizing I am teaching my kids far more about food that I had intended (yet).
The cashier asks Søren, "So, what is your favorite food?"
Søren, without blinking, "Bananas"
Me, and the cashier, "Really?"
Søren, "Yep, bananas"
The cashier, "If you could buy absolutely anything in the store, sweet, salty, savory, anything at all, what would it be?"
Søren, "Um..." then his eyes get wide, "RAISINS!"
The cashier, "Wow. Bananas and raisins, huh? Those are good favorites."
Me, "Ignorance is bliss!"
Cashier, "Keep it up!"
--------------------------------------
Søren, playing with Penelope on the floor, looks up at me and declares, "We used to live without Penny! She was just in your belly." pause, "And we used to live when she wasn't even in your belly!"
Me, "I know! And we were happy then! But now you have a little sister."
Søren, "And so now we're MORE happy!"
---------------------
Søren and Elliot are enjoying a snack of raisins on the floor together.
Søren, puts one on his upper lip and says, "Look a mustache!"
Elliot, balances one on his upper lip and shouts, "No, look at this, a NOSEstache!" and then dissolves into laughter at how funny he is.
Bananas and raisins! I love it!
ReplyDeleteFunny crew you have; wish we could hang out.
xoox
Keep up the good blogging and writing. You're doing great. And, yes, they mostly have to be separate things, so I find, anyway. Blogging keeps the writing juices flowing.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Boo - Truly, I don't know why people with little kids have televisions (well, actually, I think it has something to do with showering...)
ReplyDeleteDeanna - Thanks for confirming that writing and blogging are different endeavors. I definitely feel like the blogging helps my writing juices =) I am so grateful for your writing wisdom and encouragement!
Adorable - very real little persons living a sweet, innocent life.
ReplyDeleteCherie - It's true. So much so, that with no television, sometimes I forget the rest of the world isn't quite as sweet and innocent. I find it's nice to forget =)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need the "My Quotable Kid" journal from Chronicle Books. Our friend Blythe gifted it to us and it's always handy for gems like these. The latest was "I'm so tired that when we get home, I'm going straight to bed and not play like I usually do when you guys are downstairs and don't know it.." -from Oliver, of course!
ReplyDeleteStephy - Andrew and I had a good laugh at Oliver's admission! SO funny. I will put the journal on my short list.
