Growing Up

I kinda had this idea before I became a parent - and perhaps before I became a parent of a full fledged person rather than a baby - that I would never become a soccer mom. I think I am still fairly committed to this in terms of the "we live for soccer" mentality (but what do I know?).

However, we have developed some new friends who happen to be soccer people, and Soren's new "best friend" has a mother who has offered to coach a soccer camp for 4-5 year olds once a week in June. It is pretty much all the 4-5 year old's from our church, and I am SO glad Soren gets to participate and spend more time with such great kids. He has had two weeks so far and seems to be getting the hang of it. I am excited for him, and now he has informed me that he is ready for real school next. Ha! We shall see what develops there.

Here he is with his class, or is it team?

Elliot gets to play with the other younger siblings while we wait.

I hate to tell you this, but the mini-van doesn't help to dispel the whole "soccer mom" persona. ;-) Cute pictures, and what a great group of kids.

Ha, ha! I was trying to think of who from church might be teaching a soccer camp, and I clicked on the picture to see if I recognized the person. That's who I thought of!

Leah - I know, he's amazing! (no bias here at all).

Kari - Wicked insight =) I should mention we are only BORROWING (very very gratefully) the mini-van and do not actually OWN a minivan....though I have, regrettably, found the sliding doors to be quite convenient.

Melanie - Yep, and she is doing a really great job with the kids. I am ever grateful that my son is equally unruly as her own daughter! =) They are the youngest kids of the group, "best friends", and perhaps not quite ready for 45 minutes of perfect attention. Truly, though, they are all doing great.
