Stumped

Deanna has challenged us to write a story of a milestone in our life story. Yes, this seems easy to come up with right? I've gotten married, had a baby, graduated college, and even bought a house (and then almost lost it to foreclosure, but we won't go there). Still, none of these things seem to capture the significant sort of milestone I would want to write about. Those things seem to just happen. They were significant, don't get me wrong. But I think I'm perhaps trying to find something that reflects a milestone in my character development, something that truly changed ME, not just a change in the facts of my life.

That said, a story is coming soon.

  1. I totally understand the distinction and difficulty in pinpointing those milestones. It happened accidentally for me when I was just writing about what was on my mind...maybe it will come to you similarly.

  3. you are an amazing woman marianne. i can't imagine how you became who you are today, the strong, independent, considerate mother and wife. But even before the mother and wife thing, you were always someone I admired. What made you the you we all love? I would love to hear that story.

  4. Summer - I think you're right, I just need to start typing.

Jen - I would love to hear a milestone from you! And I happen to know of some good ones of yours.

My dear Meg - Thanks for adding pressure! Maybe I should just stick to something simple like the first time I changed my own tire =)

  5. so i just went back and re-read your 10 things of interest post and Oh My God, that was some hilarious -ness wrapped up in milestones if i've ever seen some.

Listen people, just go back to May and read about some of Elixer's journey through this thing we call life.

  6. Meg's right. You have worked on an interesting list post already. But I'm jazzed you're pondering the milestone idea further. Whether you come up with more to say or not, your name's going in the hat with Summer's! Maybe Jenny, too?
